Stephenie's Note to the Twilight Fandom

Stephenie Meyer has posted a note on her webiste about the fandom and their efforts in bringing help to Haiti.

"I've been very impressed with the world in general and the Twilight fansites in specific in the support and love everyone is giving Haiti. It's amazing to see how Twilight fans have come together to help. You are wonderful people. At this point, I think it's important for all of us to remember that the situation in Haiti is not going to be cured overnight, so... keep up the good work, and let's all keep the Haitians in our thoughts and prayers."

808 Twilighters and The Twiklings 1.24.10

The Twiklings, who are a small literary group in Hawaii, hosted a discussion at Barnes and Nobles yesterday.
A few of the 808 Twilighters were in attendence and enjoyed contributing to the discussion as well as listening to others.

 The topic was:
"Edward and Jacob, seen as heros (or not) in light of traditional and modern definitions of heroism"

Shalane had distributed a handout on Heroic Archetyopes.  Personally, I found the discussion intriguing and enlightening. Recently, I researched various archetypes and have found that creating character(s) is an art.

Mahalo to The Twinklings for hosting this discussion.  I look forward to future ones.
Just a side note: The Twinklings are a small group with little to no online presence.  That may or may not change pending on the groups desire.

Kristen on The Runaways and Eclipse

"Speaking of Bella, even though she hasn’t seen “Eclipse,” the third installment of “Twilight” yet, Stewart gives high marks to director David Slade’s style on the film, which will come out this summer. “He’s a very technical director. Very. Very. He’s very thoughtful. I think it’s going to be cool for ‘Twilight,’ like, shotwise. He’s very conceptual. He really, really takes a lot of time to…you’re not going to see, like, a bunch of Steadicam. It’s very deliberate, which is very cool. It gives you more time to think about what you’re doing. I don’t know [the tone] because I haven’t seen the movie.”

Twilight Graphic Novel Details

The Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1 will be released on March 16 with a first printing of 350,000 copies.

"The text of your original novel is boiled down so carefully that it doesn’t feel like anything is missing. Were you the one who did that?
I was definitely involved. I didn’t do the original “script” for the book, so to speak. But when I got the dialogue with the images, I did a lot of tinkering. In a couple of places, I asked for missing scenes to be inserted. For example, the conversation in the car that Bella and Edward have after she faints in Biology.

How does the feeling of reading the graphic novel compare to that of reading the original? Does it bring something new to the experience for you?
For me, it takes me back to the days when I was writing Twilight. It’s been a while since I was really able to read Twilight; there is so much baggage attached to that book for me now. It seems like all I can see are the mistakes in the writing. Reading Young’s version brought me back to the feeling I had when I was writing and it was just me and the characters again. I love that. I thank her for it.

When this project is done, are you done with Twilight?

I can’t say that I am done with Twilight forever. I’m not working on anything new Twilight-related now, and probably not for a while. But there’s still a possibility that I’ll go back and close some of the open doors."

A full ten-page excerpt, and the entire Q&A with Stephenie Meyer, will be availalbe in the issue of EW that goes on sale this Friday.

USA Today: Twilight Series Sweeps Top Four Spots

"For the second year in a row, Meyer swept the top four spots. No other author — not even J. K. Rowling— has done that in the list's 16-year history.

Meyer's coattails pulled 16 other vampire titles onto the list of the year's 100 most popular books.

"Meyer had an unbelievable impact," says Michael Norris, books analyst for Simba Information, a market-research firm. He wonders what publishers will do when what he calls " 'the vampire industrial average' falls. Every cycle has an end."

But for now, Meyer — who has also benefited from Twilight movie adaptations, with more to come — has turned "the YA (young adult) category into the PG-13 of books," he says. "She's not just read by tweens and teens, but by a lot of 30-year-old women.""

Ashley Greene in Interview Magazine

Interview Magazine's latest issue has a fantastic interview with Ashley Greene conducted by Michael Sheen! Here is an excerpt:

MICHAEL SHEEN: Okay. This is my first question. This is the only really serious one, and then the rest are quite funny. The first one is: As an elf, raised by humans, have you found a lot of discrimination against the fairy folk here in Hollywood?

ASHLEY GREENE: Well, I think they’re just jealous that I sparkle and speak elfin and have cute little pointy ears.

SHEEN: It’s true.

GREENE: So, yes, there’s discrimination. But I really don’t care.

SHEEN: You do get described as pixie-like a lot. In my younger days, I used to get described as sort of elf-like. I think it’s probably a lot easier to deal with that if you’re a pretty girl, rather than a sort of average-looking boy.

GREENE: I’m sorry about your adolescence.

SHEEN: Thank you. Well, look, let’s take a second and go back to the beginning, Ashley Greene. You grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. Is that correct?

GREENE: That is correct.

SHEEN: Now tell me about Jacksonville. What’s it like? And could you please sprinkle it with some alligator stories?

GREENE: I’ve only eaten fried alligator tail once.

SHEEN: How was it growing up there? Was school good? Or was it a bit of a trial?

GREENE: It was great. I mean, it was great until I realized that there was more out there. I went to a public high school with a magnet program for law and psychology. But right before my junior year, I decided that I wanted to leave and become an actress, so I graduated early and moved out to L.A. Now that I’m here, I can’t imagine living there.

SHEEN: What happened? You were doing law and psychology?

GREENE: Yeah. And I loved the classes. Everything was kind of set up to go on this course, which my parents absolutely loved; they were like, “Our daughter’s going to go to law school or become a psychologist!” And then out of nowhere, I pulled the acting card on them.

Stephenie Meyer Addresses Breaking Dawn Rumors

Stephenie Meyer has posted on her website about the Breaking Dawn rumors:

"Just a quick note on the subject of the Breaking Dawn film: there is no drama over whether the book should be one movie or two. My personal feeling is that it would be very difficult to cram the whole story into one movie (as I've said in many interviews previous to this), but if a great way of doing that surfaces, I'm all for it. Two or one, whichever way fits the story best is fine by me, and everyone I've spoken with at Summit seems to feel the same way. We're all excited to move forward on this, and we are slowly and surely getting there. I know people are anxious for news, and so sometimes gossip gets fabricated to stir things up, but there's no basis to this particular story."

BuzzSugar Interview with Peter Facinelli

Here is an excerpt of a BuzzSugar interview with Peter Facinelli:

On making Eclipse: What I love about the third movie is that you get to see a side of Carlisle you haven't seen before, and what his vampire capabilities really are. There are some really great battle sequences. It's my favorite book.

On what Twilight has done for his career: The fan base is just phenomenal. When you go places and you see people who flew in from other countries just to take a picture with you, that's a loyal fan base that you can't even imagine having. I'm thankful for all of them, and that's why I try to give back and connect with all of them in some way.

Is Carlisle really a good doctor?:
Oh he's great! Because Carlisle has been around for so long, I think that he's very well educated and what I love about him is he has a real love for humanity. People always ask me what kind of research did you do to play a vampire. I say I do very little to play a vampire, because I'm playing a vampire who is trying to be human. My research is more what is it to be human. Why does he love humanity so much, that he wanted to hold on to that. When you look at something like Twilight, the good vampires aren't necessarily good, they're just eccentric. The bad vampires are just doing what they're born to do and made to do. It's kind of like domesticating a lion. For me, Carlisle is just holding on to that humanity. He doesn't want to be a vampire.

Twilite: A Parody by Stephen Jenner

Twilite: A Parody (Twilite: A Parody)Published: April 27th 2009 by Virtualbookworm.com

Details: Kindle Edition
Description:  Love between a teenage girl and a vampire can be a beautiful thing. Then again, it can get a little ugly. Just ask Stella Crow. Stella is a clumsy but otherwise ordinary girl whose life takes a radical turn the moment she meets Edweird. Though perfect on the outside, Edweird Sullen is remarkably unrefined on the inside. He also happens to be a one hundred year old vampire, trapped in the body of a teenage boy, who has yet to finish high school. Nonetheless, Stella is unconditionally smitten with him. But not everything is rosy in this gloomiest of towns. Edweird's enemies have sworn to put a tragic end to their romance. Against all odds, the bond between Stella and Edweird is *nearly* strong enough for their love to survive. Most love stories between an impossibly handsome vampire and an ungainly young woman have a magical ending. This one -- not so much.
Has anyone ever read this one!

What cute video clips of the stars. Only thing is...#2? Why not #1?

Dakota Fanning in V Magazine

"Dakota Fanning is amused that she is finally able to wear a size zero clothes without having them taken in. Dakota told V Magazine: ‘Now that I’m getting older, I’m finally getting to the point where I can fit into those things’.About her role on The Runaways (sexy wild child rocker with a girl-on-girl kiss), she dished: ‘I really enjoyed doing that subject matter for the first time in a biopic, because it really happened, it’s not just a made-up story about a 15-year-old running wild. It’s a true story of her evolution from good Valley Girl to bad rock ‘n roll princess’.

She shared about her kissing Kristen Stewart: ‘It’s passionate, they were just as close as two could get’.

About drugs, specially the cocaine: ‘It’s actually crushed B vitamins. Kristen and I were, like, our hair is gonna grow a lot from these’."

This issue will be available January 14 and is sure to have some great photos! Can't wait for this magazine and for The Runaways!

Tinsel Korey gives gifts to Quileute children

Twilight' actress gives special gift to Quileute children
Actress Tinsel Korey, who plays Emily in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," gave autographed pictures to students at the Quileute Tribal School.

Peninsula Daily News

LAPUSH -- Actress Tinsel Korey, who plays a supporting role in the film, "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," gave a Christmas treat to all of the students at the Quileute Tribal School.
Each student received a personally autographed photo from Korey.

Korey had visited LaPush and Neah Bay in September to talk about acting with the students at the tribal schools.

In the movie, Korey plays Emily, who is the girlfriend of Sam Uley, who is the "alpha" in the werewolf pack.

The werewolves developed in the series to protect humans from vampires.

The books focus on star-crossed lovers Bella, a human, and Edward, a vampire -- who feeds only on animal blood.

"Tinsel autographed the photos after her visit in the fall for each student, and I wanted them to receive them for a special occasion," said Jackie Jacobs, tribal publicist.

"I thought it would be a special treat for them to receive them for Christmas."

Each photo not only was autographed but personalized with each child's name and a message.

In the movie, Korey plays a pivotal role in showing the danger of extreme emotions for the werewolves. When Sam first transforms into a werewolf, he badly scars Emily's face.

Korey also visited several of the tribal children who attended the November premiere of the movie in Los Angeles.

'Moved to tears'

"I was moved to tears when she requested the student list from Stephanie at the front desk of the tribal school. And when she proceeded to write each student's name on her photo, I actually did cry knowing how much that would to mean to the kids," Jacobs said.

Korey had visited the tribal school for several days during her September visit, Jacobs said.

"The students love Tinsel, and this latest gesture is yet another example of the beauty of her spirit," said Tribal Chairwoman Carol Hatch.
